| A Cheater |
They hide in plain sight. Watching, with beady, rat like eyes, waiting for the perfect opportunity to strike, to cause chaos in a calm room, to drop a massive steaming turd on those that just want to have a good time. The others around the table are blissfully unaware of the pure evil being cooked up. They're drinking, chatting (but not too much) and laughing joyously as the dice make their way around the table and everybody gets their turn. The others never even notice when it happens, such is the insidious nature of this wretched, feral beast. But rest assured, in the long run, it will only cause suspicion, paranoia and bickering in the long run. And who needs that crap in their lives?
I am, of course, talking about the cheater. These slippery little bastards are unfortunately a fact of life. Personally I don't see the point. Where is the satisfaction of winning if you don't win honestly? But it seems some people don't have as many scruples as me, and I assume, most of you.
Cheaters are a blight on the gaming community, sapping hard earned wins from those that actually deserve it, and I for one will not stand for it! It needs to be stamped out! They even infiltrate the blessed game of Yahtzee. Cheating is the disease and I'm the cure (was that dramatic enough?) Luckily for us there is a way to eradicate it, from our fine game at least. So, if you have suspicions about some of your opponents, why not put a stop to it by using Cheat Free Scoring?
Cheat Free Scoring is a simple and easy to, for want of a better word, enforce, system of scoring. So simple in fact that I'm sure it already exists, even though I spent roughly two minutes coming up with it on my own.
Basically, because it is already pretty basic, all you need to do is have the person to the left of you input your score when you dictate it, that way the person scoring can ensure the correct score is being inputted and you can also ensure they are scoring appropriately, so there are two pairs of eyes on every score. This is beneficial because the person scoring will ensure you don't cheat and you will be eager to make sure the correct score goes in. So the likelihood that the correct score is entered increases immeasurably. The extra benefit, aside from combating cheating, it also eradicates, more or less, human error. And this is something we can all be accused of. We are only human after all.
So, in conclusion, Cheat Free Scoring is a pretty simple change to your game and it all but eradicates cheating. So those pesky buggers can go back to stealing Monopoly money from the bank when no-one is looking. Who knows, the change might make the little slime balls see the light and they could change their ways. It's unlikely, but it might happen.
