Summary
The second of the first round matches got underway between my good-ish father, Russell and my lovely-ish wife, Faith. It was a tricky match to call as both of them have struggled to make their mark in their respective games of late, so I for one was interested to see how this one played out. Unfortunately it didn't really turn out to be a bum blowingly exciting match. The first match was rather lackluster, with neither player setting the world alight with their decidedly average scores. Don't get me wrong, they weren't just tossing it off, but it just wasn't their night. Eventually Russell claimed victory in the first match, just managing to scrape together a few more of those precious points than Faith did. But a win is a win, and win he did.
The second match was more of the same. I could try and make it sound more exciting than it actually was, but I don't lie and you can't polish a turd. It was another to and fro of less than optimal scores, and this time Faith couldn't blame her performance on our lovely daughter distracting her the whole time. No, she was off plastering makeup on her face with her auntie Mollie for the whole match, so she really had no excuse. Anyway, the match eventually went my father's way and he proceeds to the quarter final and Faith is regrettably eliminated. Russell will play Chloe in the quarter's and Faith slinked off with her tail between her legs...
