It may have escaped your notice, although I'm not sure how, but we like Yahtzee around here at the BHO Yahtzee Organisation! We like playing it, talking about it and showering in it. Alright, maybe not the last one, but I think you know where I'm coming from.
We play League Yahtzee, Champions League Yahtzee, Yahtzee Knockouts, Team Yahtzee, Online Yahtzee and we'll probably end up playing more Yahtzee if i can think of a reason, ANY reason, to do so!
We are a small group of people that share the same love for Yahtzee as each other, and it's a great time! But we're not content with that! We want to share that love with YOU. If you feel like you would fit in with us (we are very friendly and welcoming bunch of people), why not consider becoming a member of the BHO? It's easy, it's free and you will not regret it. Let me walk you through it...
What's the point?
Now, you may not hear this from many people trying to convince you of something, but let's do it anyway; Do you really need to join the BHO? Of course not. Could you, as a member of free society follow the BHO Rules & Regulations without being a member? Of course you can. Can you play a perfectly decent game of Yahtzee while ignoring everything I'm saying? Of course you can. Do you need to even listen to me at all?Abso-flipping-lutley! I'm not your mother, do as you please!
Joining the BHO and starting your own Faction (we'll get to Factions soon) won't impact your life in any meaningful way. Just yet. But in time, presuming membership grows, the benefits will become apparent and you can at least say that you got into the BHO right at the very beginning, before it did the impossible, became a mainstream sport (yes, sport) and made superstars out of all it's competitors... I can bloody dream, can't I?!
What do you get?
If you join up as a member you will be given your own unique membership number, which is nowhere near as exciting as it sounds, but it does mean that you are are a part of a community of like minded, welcoming and extremely friendly people. You will also be invited to our members only online matches we hold pretty much every Friday night at 9:00pm GMT.
We also have a thing called a Faction, that you can create if you are a member... and, I totally appreciate you asking, what the bloody hell is a faction. It's a great question... and if you hang on for a minute I will attempt to answer you...
What Is A Faction?
A faction, very simply, is a group of players you have gathered yourself, and you play League matches and basically any other competitive competition. It makes no difference what your faction is doing with regards to existing factions, such as ours. The great thing is, you can have your own faction... and have a nice day! Your Faction's scores do not interfere with our results, and nor will our faction's with yours!
If this is the direction tou want to take your career you will not affect us. And we will not affect you. What's more, if you choose to keep your matches summaried, even better. I want a "community" set of results on this blog, so feel free to keep me up to date and I will publish any and all summaries.
In fact, if you're not a writer, I am. So I can take care of the summaries even if you create a faction and don't want to bother with summaries. I will keep track of everything so you will always know who is where in the League and what match you are playing, I can do that. All we ask is that you follow the BHO's format for Leagues and abide by the official BHO rules and regulations (all available on the blog).
If youd rather I didn't use personal information, that's fine. In fact, if you refuse ANY personal information to be shared, you will get no argument from me. All I ask is that you use aliases so I can still post the summaries. Although it would great to get to know you all, I do appreciate that there are those that are not too comfortable sharing their names and details with me, as you have no idea who I am (I'm a nice guy, really), and you might not want it all over the Internet. I totally respect that, so it's entirely up to you.
If you do wish to create a faction, you will be given a faction number, also, I will create a post that welcomes you and the rest of your faction (if you have one) to the community as well as creating a "Meet the member" or "Meet the faction" post using details provided by you or using your aliases.
You will be given a Champions Log page (Factions only), which will be updated by me so your Faction can keep track of who has won what.
PLEASE NOTE: For now, all submissions will be vetted by myself, to ensure they meet standard community guidelines. All summaries and standings submissions must come with attached screenshots/images of the relevent match scores in order to ensure an honest representation of the match/standings.
What can I expect in the future?
If the BHO gains a decent amount of Factions, I hope, in time, to introduce inter-Factional competitions and other events that will take place in person or online. Obviously the in person competitions would require seperate factions to be relatively local to each other, so they will probably not be happening any time soon.
I also aim to open a members only message board. Again, dependent on numbers. But for now, members can rely on our members only Discord (invites given on membership confirmation).
Hopefully, more members will bring with it more suggestions on things to implement to further encourage new members and engage existing members.
What do you need to do?
Joining is free, all you need to do is email me at bhoyahtzeeorg@gmail.com with the subject line "New membership request" and I will get back to you as soon as possible.
If you're undecided, why don't you check out the rest of our blog, it'll give you a good sense of how we do things:
Or, just get in touch if you're undecided, I'd be happy to talk and answer any questions you may have.
So, admittedly, membership to the BHO is not currently a mind blowing prospect at the moment, especially if you aren't interested in any of the above. But hopefully this is just the beginning and getting in on the ground floor is the only way to ensure that membership numbers go up and perks keep getting better and better.
