Summary
Quite frankly, I think I'm wasting my time even writing this post. I don't even think the members of my faction want to read about how I, yes me, the "Yahtzee Master" (what a joke) got obliterated by my daughter who is not only a complete noob, but had also never even played before this evening. Oh... hang on... OF COURSE THEY DO. They can't wait to point and laugh at me. And point and laugh they did. Let's get this over with...
I was feeling... shall we say, pompously optimistic going into the first game. No noob is gonna beat me! It's not even within the realms of possibility. Then Isabelle started playing, and scoring. She wasn't scoring brilliantly, but neither was I. All I needed was a half decent score to grasp the lead. But that score never came. For every score Isabelle made I was always just one step behind. And that's how it went for the whole game. And she won. I was peeved to no end, but I could not let it get to me, All I needed was a win to take it to a decider. Easy, right?
This game, I wasn't messing about. I knuckled down and focused. And, I was playing better. Not awesome, but better. The irritating thing was Isabelle was too. I was beginning to regret asking this woman to play. It was a rectum squeakingly tight match. We traded blows every step of the way and I kept up to her. Until... Isabelle had taken her last roll. I only needed a large straight. If I got it, we would be moving on to a decider. Then I rolled. Nothing. I rolled again. A two, a three and a four. I needed a one and a five. I held the dice tightly and prayed to that God that definitely exists and rolled... nothing. I was beyond devastated. My dad was the first to chime in, heckling and pointing at the dismantling of the big Yahtzee man. And then they all bloody started because of course they did. But I'm over it now, so Isabelle, I commend you truly, and I hope you go on to great things, she will play either Miles or James in the next round. To the rest of my faction, I hope your deaths are slow and miserable.
