2026 has begun and Christmas is over... thank God... not that I'm a total misery, but the older I get, the more of a faff it feels. But despite all the faff and family based hold ups (which I did enjoy... honest) I have not been sat on my hands and I have still been working towards getting these Yahtzee packs to hand out to the true fans of Christmas... the kids!
Despite my aversion to Christmas, it did do pretty well for the BHO's coffers (or kitty, or the money that is paying for these packs). The End of Year Knockout brought in a respectable chunk of change and all those that still owed their entrance fee to the League have paid up. So we're doing okay.
Last time we spoke, I still needed the dice for the packs. Well, while I was perusing ebay, I found a pack of 500 dice for a mere twelve quid. But, I'm glad I didn't buy them, because I soon realised that the size of those dice were 5mm. That is one tiny die. Well, actually, it would have been 500 tiny dice, so I think I dodged a bullet!
Then I got to thinking. I was trying to build a hundred packs just to get them done. The truth is, I don't need a hundred packs all at once, I'm just a bit of a completist that likes to get things done straight away. But that's just daft. So I ordered 100 regular sized dice for twelve quid. This gives me enough dice for twenty packs so I can just about cover one classroom with them, which is all I wanted initially anyway! I will get the rest for the classroom once I know for sure how big it is.
So for now, we're almost there! Almost ready to rock and roll! I do want to get some letters to the parents printed to go in the packs, just so I can explain why we are giving away Yahtzee packs and also to direct them to the more adult area of the BHO blog and hopefully get them interested! But these won't take long to sort out.
Once all this is done, all I need to do is send another email to my little girl's school in the hopes that they will accept my offer the second of asking. If they don't, no matter, all is not lost, there are plenty of schools out there, and if all that comes up blank, there are other establishments to approach; libraries, community centres, youth clubs, churches...
So, I'm pretty excited. I do hope that my daughter's school accepts my offer, it would be great to witness first hand how well or poorly my idea is going.
Well, that's it for now. It shouldn't be long, we are so close, but you can bet your life that I will let you know how it goes, good news or bad.
Thanks for the support you legends xxx
