Summary
This week's League match had to wait an entire twenty four hours before we could get on with it because some old gribbler was turning seventy on the day that we usually play. That would be my father in law. Don't get me wrong, I do love him, but any disruption to the Yahtzee regime is usually a good way to get in my bad books! But, I'm an adult, I can accept it, kind of, sort of... not really! Anyway, this week had the benefit of having a lovely bank holiday Monday tacked on to the weekend, so we took full advantage of that fact and we played on the Sunday rather than the Saturday. But enough of that, let's get on with it.
Neil took top spot this week. A true surprise for all involved, because in normal life he really doesn't know his arse from his elbow. He moves from joint ninth, to joint sixth in the table. Russell took second place. There were obviously no bats in the belfry this week, as he managed second with a fine performance. Focused and determined. So, well done Rusty Bobbajob with the disappointing nob. He improves his position in the table from joint ninth to eighth. Not a huge shift, but much respect, he's going the correct way at least! Chloe managed third, which is impressive as she, like Neil, can tend to be a bit rubbish. It seems that those not generally accustomed to using their brains for anything other than work jibber jabber (again, like Neil) definitely figured out how to crack the safe of "other thought". She moves up from eighth to joint sixth, once again, with Neil. Jacob came fourth, from the cozy confines of his own abode. God knows what he was doing while he was playing. Jacob definitely has a dark, possibly extremely seedy side beneath his warm and cheerful facade, so who knows? Not really sure I want to know to be honest. Unfortunately he played rather well which means he's managed to knock me of the top spot and he moves from second in the League to first. Goddamn you boy!! Kerrie managed fifth place in the match, multi-tasking, as she does, between Yahtzee and either organising or spending money. Not gonna lie, this has worked for her in the past, but, while not in a total freefall, her scores do seem to be suffering of late. She does, however, improve her position in the League from joint fourth to third. Lee took sixth place in the match. His highest position to date. While it's true that he had partaken in a few "edibles", he was not yet on the Planet Derr. No, he saved that until later, when he somehow became Jamaican and insisted on freestyling reggae bars for about six hours. Okay, it might not have been six hours really, but it bloody felt like it! Despite his efforts, he moved from joint ninth down to tenth in the League. Faith stole seventh in the match with a so-so performance. She might have been a bit groggy after celebrating her father's birthday the night before. But I doubt it. She didn't even really have our beautiful daughter, Heidi bugging her either. No, the truth is she just needs a bit more practice, but she is a busy woman. I could have been a bit more disparaging about her, but she is my wife and you don't have to live with it! She retains fourth place in the League. Yours truly performed absolutely pathetically, coming in a measly eighth in the match. Hopefully this is just a blip and not the all too familiar capitulation that is so common for me. I relinquish first place to Jacob and take up my new residence in second place in the League. Claire came ninth in the match with a pretty "meh" performance. The former Champion is yet to wow us with her perfomances of old. Perhaps her Danish super juice (Carlsberg) isn't quite having the effect it once did. Time for a change maybe Claire? She moves from her relatively comfy spot in third in the League down to fifth. Ouch! Tenth place in the match came Grace, with a bit of a lacklustre performance, which was forgivable as she had just driven all the way back to Wales after the party, so it was good of her to actually join in at all as she probably also had a lot of indescribably dark Welsh things to do. Her performance cost her dearly, she drops from sixth in the League to ninth. Double ouch!! Poor Millie came in last, she was subject to the same "edibles" as Lee, and I think it had a bit more of an effect. She was well and truly on her way to Planet Derr. It seems to have had an adverse affect as she drops from seventh down to the very bottom of the League. Triple ouch!!!
