Introduction
It's been over a week now since Miles and I began this little venture of ours. The reason for that is it's a good old pain in the plums trying to get Miles to commit to anything. It's about as difficult as getting the Catholic church to admit to any wrongdoing. This is not an isolated problem that only affects Miles. No, this seems to be an issue that affects all snotty thirteen year old boys. I can testify to this because I used to be a snotty teenage boy. The snottiest, in fact. But I did manage to convince him to play... eventually.
It's been a rather run of the mill nine days since the last time we played. He had continued to talk to me about all the new music he had discovered since last we spoke. This is nice. Music happens to be another one of my passions and he just so happens to be listening to all the music I used to listen to (still do, mostly) when I was a lad. It's great to be able to converse about something we share a mutual interest in, however, it still usually leads to debate, because that's just how we seem to converse, and I'm sure I'm as much to blame for this as he is.
It was also this week that he decided to reignite his passion, or at least his passion for talking about, reptiles. Don't get me wrong, I love animals of all shapes and sizes, I'm just not so keen on keeping them in cages, but that's just me and I don't judge others that do (mostly). My point is, when Miles goes on about reptiles it's usually in the context of the one's he wants to own. Something I simply can't relate to. So when he talks about such things I do try my best to listen and appear interested but Miles has extraordinary stamina when it comes to labouring the point. So my attention does tend to wander. I am by no means blaming Miles for this; if I'm interested in something then I tend to have exactly the same one track mind. So it's something I need to work on, not Miles, before you all come after me!
It was also this week that Miles endeavoured to decorate his bedroom and it's fair to say that his newly found interest in Black Metal music has had quite the influence on his choice of decor. I'm not going to claim that his bedroom was the Ritz before he began decorating, but unfortunately now it looks a bit like a crèche for Satan's offspring. But, it's up to him. Just as long as I don't hear rhythmic chanting and find the remains of Guinea-pigs sacrificed to Beelzebub himself then we're all good.
Anyway, that was the week and then some that we have spent together, let's see how that affects the all important outcome of this Father vs. Son battle to the death (well, not death, but...).

Summary
Ironically, despite all my waffle about miles being an out and out chatterbox, that wasn't the case for this match. He was considerably focused, despite the fact that he had just finished an evening of painting his room. He seemed collected and ready to go, despite the fact that he had to be convinced to play.
The match started well for me. For the first third of the match, I was pretty much coasting. Miles was making a few silly mistakes and I was feeling pretty confident. I was getting them all; large straight, full house, four of a kind, my bonus... And then it all went south... quickly. All of a sudden, Miles was pulling out the same kind of scores. One minute I was telling myself that it wouldn't last, the next, he was approaching my score. Before long, he had surpassed me. Yep, I had just won my first Championship badge, come second in the first match of League Three and now I was getting battered by the boy! It didn't get much better from there. He kept getting roll after roll. These weren't just so so scores, he was hitting big and all the while I was getting quieter and quieter. It came to a point where I needed my small straight to take the lead. So what did I do? Fluffed it. Miles needed his four of a kind. What did he do? He bloody got it. So this match went to Miles and he has now levelled the scores, but there is still a long way to go.
Standings
Chris 1 - 1 Miles
Final Thoughts
Miles proved once again that when it comes to Yahtzee, he has the ability to just get in and do the job. Half of the time you don't even realise that he's beating you before it's too late. It's a good quality to have. Bloody wish I had it!!!
There is still a long way to go, a potential seventeen more matches. So providing that one of us doesn't have a complete 'mare, we're definitely in it for the long haul!
