Summary
There are some detractors of our glorious game that will tell you that if someone gets a Yahtzee, the game's over. While this might be true when it comes to the second or third Yahtzee, this live match is proof that a single Yahtzee absolutely does NOT buy you a victory. It was a healthily attended live match (no newbies unfortunately, boo hoo) and it was a pretty hotly contested match at that.
Claire took the top spot, with NO Yahtzee. She was obviously sufficiently well lubed as she played well, using her dice rolls carefully and cautiously, something that is very rare with a sober Claire. I managed second place, again with NO Yahtzee. In fact, I was a bit miffed not to bag the top spot. I was in the lead for a good portion of the match and I must admit I was pretty confident that I would pull out the win. But then I came to my senses and realised that good shit very rarely goes my way. Like I care... arseholes... Russell, often known as the "Grindr King" (I don't know why, don't ask) came in third, WITH a Yahtzee. He did a great job, only seven points behind yours truly, so he had a pretty good night all told. He's always been pretty consistent. I've had the pleasure(?) of speaking with many of his past "hook ups" and they have always scored him a very consistent two out of ten in the sack. Doesn't get more consistent than that does it? Kerrie, who named herself Miss Blobby for this match (leave the jokes to me, please) came in fourth, WITH a Yahtzee. This was actually a good performance as once again she was within just a few points of Russell. But it wasn't to be. She played though, which is nice. It can often be hard to get kerrie to play the Live Friday matches. She usually has loads of sums to do. Then do again... and again. So, I'm truly grateful that she decided to join us, thanks bubba. Miles, once again WITH a Yahtzee, came in fifth. He did, however, have a bit of an excuse as he spent more time melting my brain on the subject of reggae music (of all things) than he did concentrating on the job at hand. He'll learn eventually. Grace, once again WITH a Yahtzee, managed sixth place. I did notice that she took a lot longer to take her turn than any other player that evening, so who knows what she was up to. I do know that I'm too scared to even ask. Now, this is where it gets truly amusing. Jacob, who has done extremely well since he's joined us on a regular basis and he has definitely let us know about it constantly since then, only came in last. Not only did he finish last, he got a bloody Yahtzee as well! Ha. Ha. Ha.
So, I hope this summary proves that you don't need a Yahtzee to steal top spot in a match. Lots of people's heads just drop the minute a competitor rolls a Yahtzee, but it shouldn't! And this summary is the perfect example of why!
