Summary
The League is back! And it's the biggest one ever. There are now eleven of us fine human beings battling it out over fifteen matches to become the top dog! We were all primed and ready, raring to go. In the interest of full disclosure, the evening's match was split between an in-person match and an online match with the scores collated after both by yours truly, and this how it is likely to remain as my daughter is currently unavailable for in-person matches. Anyway, let's get down to it. Oh, and by the way, I will not bother with League positions in this summary as, quite obviously, the match standings and League positions are exactly the same.
Jacob, one of our newcomers, took the top spot this week. This is hardly surprising as he has been making quite a splash in our Friday night online matches (check the upcoming events page for details, ahem). I am quite honestly regretting telling this World of Warcraft fanboy anything about our great sport (yes, sport). But I did. So, congratulations... ya git. My good self came second, still riding high from my victory in the Core Championship. Not that it will last, but for now, at least, I'm happy. Grace, another newcomer, my daughter, came second, all the way from the land of iffy accents and strange tasting cheese on toast, Wales. I've wanted her to join the BHO for a good long time because most of my offspring seem to be much finer players than me, so I'm thrilled that she's here. Just as long as she doesn't beat me... Claire came in fourth, mixing it up with the big boys. She will tell you that due to her Yahtzee record that she IS one of the big boys. If we're talking a complexion that indicates thirty years spent in a coal mine, then maybe. But her victories were nothing short of flukes, so it would be advised to take her testimony with a pinch of salt. In fifth place was the Welsh veteran, Millie. She did well, with a perfectly serviceable score. She's done pretty well in the live matches also, so I'm looking forward to seeing how she does this season. She has certainly become more consistent in recent times. Perhaps she thinks about it while at work (congrats by the way); running through strategies and probabilities. Maybe. Not that she would ever admit it. Sixth place went to Faith. She took a bit of convincing to join the League this time, citing that she was useless at it. I reassured her that if I'd have felt like that I would have buggered off right at the beginning. I'm sure she can do well, if our youngest allows it. She is a bit demanding, as regular readers will know. Seventh place was ultimately occupied by Lee. Not a performance worthy of his bravado, but the League's night is still young. Just begun actually. I'm sure he'll make his mark, as long as he can keep himself on this planet long enough. Kerrie, our previous champion, came in eighth place, but don't be counting her out just yet. She's a crafty so and so and can usually make things happen when it counts. I actually think she might be a freelance witch. She has the look anyway. Russell took ninth place with a rather lacklustre performance. To be fair to him, this is not really his sport (yes, sport). Back in the day he was a Chess Grand master. He was, however, banned for life from competing in any chess tournaments due to a doping scandal involving HRT and a beautiful black evening frock. In his defence, he did look stunning. Tenth place went to Chloe, our final newcomer. It wasn't a great start, but she was distracted because she had to bang on about her job... again. Finally, in eleventh place, was Neil, who was also distracted because he had planted a flower in his garden and he was awestruck by his own work.
So, that was the first match. No doubt things will change immensely when it comes to the League table, and I certainly hope so. I can't wait to see how things progress and I also can't wait to take you along for the ride. See you next time, you lovely Homo Sapiens!
