It's not often that I order a set of dice and when they arrive they exceed my expectations. But that was certainly the case with this set. They really are a set of Bobby Dazzlers, aren't they? What's a Bobby Dazzler, I hear you ask... well... THEY are! That name may not make any sense to you unless you are from Yorkshire... in the UK... up north... where it's grim... apparently. That name might make EVEN less sense to you if you are from America. I do apologise to all the Yanks in the audience! But if it's any consolation, I also love to yank... well, anyway!
As soon as I opened the frankly shoddy packaging when they arrived, I was in love... Jesus Christ, I make myself cringe too, just for the record. I will say that most of the time it is not "love" in the 50 Shades way... it's more of a middle aged man/acrylic relationship. See, far more normal.
The appeal of these dice (to me), is the fact that they are the perfect size, but it is also that beautiful white colour. Obviously, the dice are epoxy, but they are supposed to look like pearl or some other bright white precious stone. In my measly syphilitic point of view, they do a genuinely great job of pretending! Not real, but still very pretty.
If I had to moan about one aspect of these dice... y'know... really, REALLY had to, I would say that the pips are a wee bit yellow! Now, unless you have had a brain injury, you will know that the colour of these pips much closer resemble human liquid waste than the actual precious metal. Obviously, I don't expect a set of dice that cost me about 7 quid for a pack of ten to use real gold for the pips... BUT, they could have tried a bit harder!
The colour of the pips are certainly not a deal breaker, because I love them as a whole. If the pips were a bit closer to the correct colour though, these dice would not be a mere entrant to my favourite dice rotation. They would be my FAVOURITE DICE! Full stop, end of. Fin!
Regardless of their, admittedly minor drawbacks, they are still absolutely gorgeous dice. Well made, perfect size and when you roll them, that pearlescent finish glints in the light and makes them feel like they are about 85% more premium than they actually are!! Did you pick up on the fact that I quite like these dice? Oh, and they are super, super, SUPER easy to read! And I can't read!
A set of 5 of these dice are currently available on our eBay shop HERE.
