I know, I know, it was only last week that we were toasting my wife, Faith, for being a fantastic mother on... well, Mother's Day. Well it's not my fault that her birthday comes right after it! But if anyone deserves a double toast, it is my wife.
She is now 41 years young, and would you believe it, Faith and I have been an item since we were fifteen years old! We have literally been together far longer than we have been apart! It's crazy when you think about it, but it's true!
From day one she has been the most attentive, caring and, it has to be said, most accommodating human I have ever known. I got her knocked up pretty sharpish, which means that very early on she gave me one of the greatest gifts I have ever recieved; a baby girl. She would eventually bless me with two more daughters and a son. From day one, she was the greatest mother you could ask for, and the best girlfriend a man could ever want.
The idea of marriage, it has to be said, was met with some resistance, from my side... but after everything she had done for me, who was I to refuse? So after a twelve year relationship, we tied the knot. It wasn't a fancy affair, but we were finally together TOGETHER! She now shares my surname, although why she wanted the surname "Bush" still perplexes me! My magnetic aura must have been more powerful than my surname! Or at least that is my assumption!
We have now been together for almost twenty six years and it still amazes me how she puts up with me. To be honest, I would have never thought about how she puts up with me if that particular question wasn't asked basically every week by my Father, my sister, my nieces, my nephews, my in-laws, my own children and Faith herself. If I was more sensitive I might have a bit of a complex about this!
Sure we have had our ups and downs. Sometimes more ups than downs and sometimes more downs than ups. But whether we are in an up, I love her, and whether we are in a down, I love her. She's a great mum, a great wife and she does a fantastic job of keeping us all together and relatively sane!
If only she was better at Yahtzee. THEN she would be perfect!
But, whatever, happy birthday Faith. I hope you know that everyone loves you, you are literally the most genuine and likeable person I know and I hope it never changes!
Here's to another 41 years!!!!!!
