So, I have taken the plunge and I have sent an email to my daughter's school to gauge whether the school is even interested or not! Here is what I sent:
"To Whomever this may concern,
My name is Christopher Bush, and just in case you didn't know, I am Heidi Bush's father, but I thought you might think it necessary to let you know that I do actually have a child that attends your school. However, Heidi is not why I am contacting you this time. I am actually coming to you with a bit of a query and maybe even an opportunity!
I run a blog named BHO Yahtzee Organisation. We play Yahtzee Leagues, Knockout and Head to Head competitions. I am not expecting any of the children to get involved with any such thing, or even to get involved with the BHO in any way.
What I would like to do is hand out packs so the little ones can start playing Yahtzee by themselves and with their parents.
Why? Well, because there are many benefits for kids to play Yahtzee, mainly addition, critical thinking and risk management. Plus it is a fantastic game that gets families together, it is easy to learn but it is also relatively complex. So, I believe that it is worth sharing and playing, especially amongst the younger audience. There is a lot of literature to back this up if you wish to look.
Anyway, all I wish to do is hand out packs to the children with everything they need to get playing with each other and their families (dice, rules, score cards etc.). Yes, there will be directions to our website, but purely for further information.
I will provide everything required at no cost, all I need to know is how many students are in Heidi's class. I aim to make this available to all students at your school, but I thought I would start with my daughter's class to gauge interest and reduce unnecessary costs.
This may not happen for a while as I am asking for your permission first before I go ahead and make all necessary purchases. But, if you should give me the go ahead, it should be no more than a month from reciept of this email.
Hopefully I have made myself clear, but I would be more than happy to answer any questions you may have.
I look forward to your response,
Kind regards,
Chris."
Now, I don't know if this is even a good email to send, but hopefully it gets some interest. Enough that I can follow through with my plan at least. We'll see, I guess. Stay tuned xxxxxx
