Introduction
It has been a good long while since the boy and I got together for a Dad Vs Boy match. Now, I'm not one to make assumptions, but I think it might have something to do with the fact that I am tanking him at the moment! But as I have said many times, a comeback is always possible, whatever the disadvantage, and if you don't play, you'll never know! And you'll certainly never win!
You would think that after such a lengthy time away, there would be much to talk about. But not really. Unfortunately, Miles is a bit like me, bloody boring. But even the most mundane life is not without it's tidbits, so let's see what we can scrape from the bottom of the barrel, shall we?
It may surprise you to learn, with me being the CEO of a whole organisation, but my family and I don't live in a huge mansion (I know, it's criminal), but even so, if Miles doesn't want to be found, he's pretty hard to find. So it can often be a few days before we see him for any length of time. But I have spent a bit of time with him, although I'm not entirely sure that he was ever happy about this (y'know, teenager), but we have conversed a few times since the last post. And I have learned a few things.
Firstly, Miles has been rummaging in my bags that are full of my old CD's (remember them?) And the noises I have heard seeping through his bedroom door was nothing short of encouraging. Far more encouraging than the noises I usually hear! I heard a bit of Guns & Roses (from back when Axl could actually sing) but I also heard him playing Pink Floyd. I'm not going to lie, my heart sang and my eyes welled up. Pink Floyd is my number one band of all time. Miles is the third of my four kids, so I have waited a good long while for any of my kids to appreciate the music that I do. Alice in Chains, Marilyn Manson and Nirvana is one thing.... but Pink Floyd?! My life is complete!!
But if we come back down to earth for a minute, the fringe has gotten a lot worse, but unfortunately, I'm not really in a position to criticise (see below).
Anyway, to the match!
Match Results
1. Chris - 207
2. Miles - 197
Summary
I would love to say that Miles started the Match well and I just played better, but I can't. The truth is, he started off a little bit rubbish and got progressively worse. And that isn't me been a big headed nob! I didn't play particularly well either, as the scores will show. But sometimes, body language is everything. Miles is a teenager, as you know, so slouched and moody is his whole thing, but it seemed just a bit different this time. It seemed Match specific. I didn't feel this way though. If you have never played Yahtzee, you may not be able to relate, but a lot of the time you can just "feel" the way that things are going. This must have been it for me. I wasn't playing particularly well, but I just "felt" I was doing enough.
Luckily I was correct, I just about beat Miles, and he just about lost, so it was all good. For me... at least....
Standings
Chris 9 - 5 Miles
Final Thoughts
Well, I think it is plain to see that I only need one more win to become the Champion, but that means nothing. When Miles realises what is at stake, a loss to his father (heartbreaking to a teenaged boy), there is no telling what he might do. Yes, he would have to win five Matches back to back, but if anyone can do it, it's Miles!!
