Blog # 6 - BHO Jr. - Gathering Supplies & Making Boo Boos

While there may be no email response giving me the green light to go ahead and assemble the Yahtzee Packs for distribution, I am ever the optimist and I am proceeding with getting them together anyway! After all, at least one school, youth club or whatever will bite at some some point (I'm hoping) so I am carrying on regardless, more or less convinced that my efforts will not have been in vain!
So I guess I'm just checking in to with a bit of a progress report.
I'll get the fact that I'm an idiot out of the way first. I ordered some resealable bags in order keep all of the Yahtzee bumf within. Unfortunately, I ordered bags that were about three sizes too small. Luckily, my gorgeous sister, Claire caught wind of this and felt a bit sorry for me so she ordered bags that were far more fit for purpose! But all is not lost, we are now using my teency weency bags to store the dice in, which will then be stored in the more appropriate bags! So thank you very much Claire for your valuable contribution, it means a lot!
While we're on the subject of contributions, you may be asking where we are getting the money to pay for these packs. Well, that is because all of our competitors are absolutely fantastic and when I suggested that each tournament should have an entry fee, they were totally fine with it! For now, the entry fees are going towards the Yahtzee Packs, but eventually, I want the kitty to build up so the BHO can give back to it's players in the way of prize money. We'll get there eventually, but for now just know that I appreciate and love with all my heart every player that joins us, pays the entry fee and understands that the BHO's growth is a marathon not a sprint. You are legends, each and every one of you!
Getting back to the progression of the packs, we have had the professionally printed rules delivered, which look fantastic, so that is one less thing to worry about. The scorecards are getting printed, slowly but surely. I am asking my father to do this and he does it from work, so I didn't want him printing stacks of paper! But I will be asking for some more soon. Love you daddy! I have ordered stickers to go on the front of the bags, just to give us the feel of legitimacy. Whether this actually pays off, however, remains to be seen!
We also have eleven sets of dice to go into the packs, but this is nowhere near enough, and they are the most expensive component, as you might imagine. So I am hoping that we can get a few donations from people that have a surplus, but I am by no means expecting anything, so I did a bit of online browsing. You can actually get some small dice in a relatively large number for not too much. But still, we are from Yorkshire, and we are known to be tight with our cash!
While this might be true, It doesn't bother me, if we have to buy them, we have to buy them! However, If we can get donated dice as opposed to dice that have cost us, then I am 100% behind that. But we'll see. Im happy either way!
