Keeping Yahtzee Interesting?

I don't think I need to be making this post. But that's just me. I have a bit (a lot?) of imposter syndrome. If anything happens to me, that is in any way positive, then I either feel as if I don't deserve it or I need to break my back to maintain it. But is that really true?
If you think about Yahtzee as a sport, which I do (IT IS!) Then it is quite easy to see where I'm coming from. So, if you wish, follow my train of thought...
Just consider most other sports, which, admittedly, I don't most of the time, like football, cricket, golf, rugby and so many others, they don't have to justify why they exist. It's the same thing: the same Matches, the same Competitions and Championships, week in and week out, and they never seem to feel the need to change it up. Football is football, it's the same thing... always. Nobody ever says a word. Don't get me wrong, this is a good thing. But in a round about way, this is my problem. Why do I feel like I need to make Yahtzee more exciting? I shouldn't. If you like it, you like it, if you don't, that's okay, just move on. But I do seem to be caught in this trap, where I need to break my brain trying to make it into something it's not, just for an ounce of additional interest (not clout), which would more than likely be fleeting anyhow!
I love Yahtzee (did you guess that?), and so do many, MANY other people, so I should just leave it at that! Imagine going to a football match, only to discover that the rules had changed in an effort to make it more interesting. Would you be happy with that? No, of course not! You would probably be livid. And rightfully so! And if I know football fans... like I don't want to, there would probably be a riot and lives would be either changed significantly, or lost!
I have never strayed away from the traditional rules of Yahtzee, nor any of it's variants, nor would I. My problem is that I am a people pleaser, so I am always trying to please everyone, ALL the time! So I have spent hours dreaming up strange and fanciful ways of making the game appeal to all people of all kinds! But I have had a stern word with myself and have decided that enough is enough! Yahtzee is perfect. Those that love it, will find the BHO sooner or later and even if they don't, so what? We have a wonderful set of core members that keep us going. Growth would be amazing, but it isn't nearly as important as keeping what we have and respecting the rules as they were intended to be played! No longer will I attempt to dream up wacky alternative rules for Yahtzee in an effort to entice others to play! It makes me ecstatic to know that I haven't done that yet and I will not be making such a grave error in the future!
At the end of the day, Yahtzee is a fantastic game! But, admittedly, you either love it or you hate it! I have come to realise that this is not a bad thing. When the BHO began, I was obsessed with trying to get as many people on to this blog and getting them playing that I kind of lost myself. But from now on, I will be promoting classic Yahtzee and only it's most famoust variant (like forced Yahtzee).
But that does leave us with a very valid question: How DO we keep Yahtzee fresh and interesting? Well, In my (and I know others that feel the same) opinion, we don't need to! It's a great game. I must admit I have always preferred the unadulterated version of ANY game. Take uno for example. The original is great. But then you get Uno Extreme, or whatever they call it. To me it's pointless, the original is enough. Just like Yahtzee. I know that I was the one thinking of how to change Yahtzee, but that's just me! I think I have undiagnosed ADHD, and if I'm not obsessing over something, I'm convinced I have abandoned it, even though we play every week and I post on here at least twice a week (is that ADHD? I don't know, you tell me).
So, for now, I am delighted to say that the BHO is happy just as we are, and that is the way it is going to stay. Like it or lump it!

  Love you guys!

  Keep rolling xxx
