BHO?... Wait... What?! - A Brief Intro

  I know what you're thinking. You're thinking:

"What the bloody hell is a Yahtzee Organisation?"

Honestly, if I were you, I would be thinking the same thing.

But, if you give me a minute of your time, all will become clear, I'll explain everything and hopefully I will be able to convince you that my dice based ramblings are (often, at least) worth sticking around for.

Firstly, let me thank you for even bothering to stumble upon this blog by accident. I am your humble servant and I am here to entertain as well as impart my vast-ish knowledge to you smashing people. My name's Chris, and I am a self confessed, dyed-in-the-wool, borderline obsessive Yahtzee enthusiast. I am also the founding member of the BHO Yahtzee Organisation.

  So, what is it?

Have you ever noticed that there are clubs and organisations for just about every sport, game or recreational pursuit you can think of? Of course you have. Well, it seems there's an organisation for everything except Yahtzee. Not as far as I could tell anyhow. Yahtzee is my game, pretty much the only game I play, and I had nowhere to play with like minded individuals (don't you dare mention Dice With Buddies to me), or even somewhere we could discuss the game, share scores etc.

I spent a good deal of time just grumbling about this sad fact to myself, but then I decided if there wasn't a Yahtzee organisation I would make one myself. So I did.

Before all this I had gotten my family deeply invested in the game of Yahtzee and before long we had organised our very first league. Then we began a team championship. It quickly got me thinking that these leagues/championships should follow a standardised set of rules. So i got to work and created the offial rules and regulations (a post with the full rules and regs will be available in due course). That was the true birth of the BHO. And I'll be honest, it wasn't all that long ago. The BHO is in its infancy. Our faction (the only faction at the time of writing) started with around 4 players, but it is now home to at least a dozen constant, regular or semi regular players. My hope is that our faction continues to grow, and that other factions will pop up far and wide and we can come together to share results, scores and anectodes.

Is a blog the best way to do this? Probably not. But as I feel my way through the testing, often shark infested waters of the internet, this will be my little home. It's simple, no frills and easy to manage. A bit like me.

In addition to growing the organisation, I will be offering my own perspectives on the game, equipment, strategy (yes, Yahtzee does involve strategy) etc.

Anyway, thanks for sticking with me so far,

  Much love,

  Chris

P.S. If you would be interested in asking a question for me to address on this blog, offering feedback/advice or you wish to start a new faction (details of which are still being ironed out) then please contact me at bhoyahtzeeorg@gmail.com
