Look at those beauties. Aren't they wonderful? Yes they are. I don't know about you, but they remind me of those beautiful images by nasa of the various nebulas (nebuli?) that litter our universe. If you don't know what I'm talking about, give 'em a Google.
The great thing about these little plastic cubes is how easy they are to read. You might be asking what I'm going on about. This is a fair question, so let me explain. Many people tend to gravitate towards the elaborate dice, the multicoloured dice. For a long time I had a bit of an aversion to them, primarily because they are a bit too "busy" or elaborate, which makes them hard to read, to me at least as my eyesight is bloody useless. The above dice also fall into that "busy" category, but they are not hard to read at all. Quite the opposite. Look at those pips (dots to the uninitiated), they practically glow!
These dice came to me via my wonderful sister, Claire. They came to her via her fairly below average husband, Neil. Yahtzee is definitely a family affair to us! There were ten of them so I did my usual unconvincing routine I perform when I want something for nothing; I over compliment them, remind her that you only really need five dice to play Yahtzee etc. I presume she saw right through me from the minute I began my charade. Regardless, it worked.
Because of where they came from, and the price, of course, they hold a special place in my heart. I love my sister. Not ashamed to say it. We have a great relationship and I only hope it continues and she gives me more stuff!
Despite their sentiment, I have never played with them. But that's gonna change. They have entered my newly curated bag of dice consisting of seven sets so far that are going to see regular game time from here on out!
