Dad vs. The Boy - A Fight For Masculine Supremacy - Match #11 - 06/09/25

Introduction
It's been a hot minute since Miles and I had locked horns over the Yahtzee board, but I managed to convince him to comply and give his old dad a match.
Since the last time we played he had a birthday, so a very happy birthday, my young offspring! It wasn't exactly a Kodak moment type of birthday as he either new what presents he was getting beforehand or he had got them already. A bit like me!
It may not surprise you to learn, if you have bothered to read the last couple of these summaries, that the majority of his gifts had something to do with his new grungy fashion sense or something to do with skateboarding. He actually got a brand new skateboard. For eighty quid. Yep, for a plank with wheels. I think he assumed that the board did the tricks for him, but he soon learned that it didn't. It took a few good old cracks to the shin for him to realise this, but realise it he did. He has learned one rather unique trick though. I don't know what it's real name is, but I call it "losing control of your board and almost wiping out innocent pedestrians". He's very adept at that one, although my throat is getting a bit sore having to apologise for him so much. His older sister, Grace, bought him a lovely selection of new earrings. How kind. Now he doesn't look like a teenager trying to look edgy with a piercing, he looks very much like Black Beard or Long John Silver. In fact, some of them are so big that if he had both ears pierced, he'd look like a single mother called Chardonnay, the kind that shouts at her five year old child (called Chesney) outside Home Bargains because she wouldn't get him a four pack of Stella because he just guzzled the previous four cans. You get my drift... hopefully.
Another thing that occurred since last we spoke, the summer holidays have now come to an end, meaning that He and his youngest sister are now back at school. I have to admit that I was a little apprehensive over this, as Miles has struggled with school before, attendance wise. This is not because he is a little scrote that would rather burn out scrap cars rather than go to maths. No, I'm sure I've mentioned before, but ever since Covid (and he's certainly not alone) he has struggled to get back into the rhythm of school. The fact that he also has his fathers often debilitating anxiety means that he has missed an awful lot of school in the past two years (something like that, dates and times often escape me), so you could, if you wanted, forgive me for thinking that we would be right back at square one at the end of this holiday. Well, I needn't have bothered worrying. Every single day he has been up and out, going for full days and not just a few hours. So I'm an incredibly proud dad. Yes it's only been a week, but even a marathon starts with a single step, and I'm optimistic. Good on you, pal.
Finally, it turns out can be an influential guy when I wanna be. My eldest daughter has only gone and created hersef a blog! She writes poetry (again, like her dad) and posts it for all to see. And let me tell you, they're pretty bloody good! But why am i mentioning my eldest daughter in a blog post about my son? Well it turns out that Miles has got the writing bug also. He's only gone and created himself a blog of his own too!! He may only have one post on it so far, but it's a good article and well written. The post is about the emotion in a musicians lyrics. Deep! I can't say his whole blog will be musically related, but what I can say is I'm bloody proud. There is something incredibly heart warming when your kids take inspiration from you. It gives you such a warm and fuzzy feeling, it's like when you got your first Care Bear when you were four years old. There's nothing quite like it!

Summary
All I needed in this match was to win and give myself a have decent cushion in points, so at least Miles would need to work for a victory. But if you've read enough of these summaries, you would know that fortune much prefers to bend me over and violate me up to the elbow. All this is to say that I played an absolute shocker! Such a pathetic score. While it's true that Miles didn't exactly run away with the match, it's certainly neither important nor relevant. He did well enough that he kicked my spotty white arse and earned himself another point, shortening my lead down to just one!
So, even though I am incredibly proud of him and love him more than this big, blue, spinning orb, I still can't look him in the eye without wanting to smack him in the mouth. Tread carefully my giant fringed friend!

Standings
Chris 6 - 5 Miles

Final Thoughts
Well, after a good few weeks thinking I had a good handle in this competition, Miles just swoops in and shatters my dreams! Yes, I'm still in the lead, but this latest match has now tightened my sphincter to such a point that it will no doubt affect my game and the next time you hear from me, we will be talking about how Miles and I have six games apiece. Because that's just how my rotten luck goes!!!
