I'll let you in on a little secret. I have a plan. I think it'll add some zest to the usual weekly proceedings (anything to do away with pointless friendlies. Urgh), and how can that be a bad thing?!
So here's my thinking. In recent weeks, we have already discussed having a few head to head competitive Yahtzee matches. I must admit, I liked the idea. But it was only while I was sat with a glass of wine, that I thought of this. Why not combine head to head matches with a knockout tournament. I know. Truly groundbreaking. But I did think it would fit in more with our long format tendencies.
So, here's how it's gonna work. All names will be drawn randomly (presuming all members wish to play) to determine who will play against who. The first matches will be first to three. The winner proceeds, the loser is eliminated. After all matches are played, the remaining six names are once again drawn at random to determine their opponent. These matches will be first to four. After all matches are played and the winners are determined, we enter the ENDGAME!!!! The remaining players play one match if needed. If there is an odd number of competitors. The lowest score is eliminated. The remaining two enter the final, which will be first to five!
The winner is the champion and earns themself a prestigious BHO Champions badge and a spot on the Champion's log.
Bare in mind that we still have League 2, the Team Championship and the Core Championship to reach their respective conclusions, so it could be mid spring before you see it. We want to get a clean slate on all our ongoing matches before we start anything new. But have no worries, you WILL see the Head To Head Knockout relatively soon.
If the Head to Head knockout is a success and we all agree that it's got legs, I will update the Rules & Regulations to include it. But let's see how it goes first!
